Vintage Bakelite & Wood Horse Brooch. Charming War Time Whimsy. Circa 1940s.
Tested Authentic Bakelite. Pegasus Pin. When Horses Fly!
A classic! These types of motifs were popular during the dark days of WWII,
when keeping up the morale of the home front was important. Also, there was
very little metal or precious materials with which to make non-essential items.
Love this whimsical flying horse (Goofy Pegasus perhaps).
Measures 3" long.
Horse carved from wood.
Tail made from jute.
Bakelite Eye.
Very well made, pin back is nice and tight.
Condition:
Overall condition is very good - very wearable and sturdy.
Bakelite Eye - some paint loss, see close up on photo #5.
Very small chip in wood on back, near pin mechanism. This may have been done
during production.
Some of the detail paint has a few chips here and there (note red hooves).
No chips or cracks on the front in either the wood or bakelite.
