Replica of a cicada fibula of the Migration Period from Pannonia.

Exact replica of a Roman-Germanic cicada fibula, a typical brooch of the
migration period after a Pannonian sample from the 5th century.

On the back of the cicada fibula a rolled up needle is attached, as it was
typical for the Roman and Germanic cicada brooches of the Migration Period.

The dimensions of the cicada fibula are 5 x 3 cm.
Available in bronze or silver plated.

With the cicada fibula the robe of the Roman or Germanic ladies was closed.
The brooch was used in pairs on the shoulders.

Later, the cicada fibula was also used as a third brooch in the middle of the
chest between the pairs of fibulae on the shoulders or as a single brooch.

During the migration period, the cicada fibula is particularly represented in
the costume of children and young women.
